Spring Double Up League has the following Grades:

  • Open Grade - minimum of 15 years old.
  • Open Mixed - minimum of 15 years old. Only three males are allowed on the court at all times, the positioning must be 1 male in each third of the court - 1 in Defence Circle, 1 in Mid Court, 1 in Shooting Circle. This means you can have one male in either of these positions as a shooter, GS/GK (1), midcourt, WD/C/WA (2) and defence GD/GK (3).
  • Secondary - Year 9-13.

Open Grade

Day: Mondays

Time: From 6 pm

Length: 6 weeks

Starting on: 16th February 2026

Finishing on: 23rd March 2026

Registrations Open: 12th January 2026

Registrations Close: 9th Feburary 2026

Cost: $150 per team

Grades: A, B, and Social.

Open Grade Specific Rules: 

  • Players need to be a minimum of 15 years of age to participate.
  • Secondary Senior School teams can enter into any grade.
  • No Injury Time.
  • Female Grade.
Open Mixed

Day: Mondays

Length: 6 weeks

Starting on: 16th February 2026

Finishing on: 23rd March 2026

Registrations Open: 12th January 2026

Registrations Close: 9th Feburary 2026

Cost: $150 per team

Grades: Open Mixed Competitive (A & B Combined) & Open Mixed Social

Mixed Specific Rules: 

    • Players need to be a minimum of 15 years of age to participate
    • Clarification of how many males on court and where. Only three males are allowed on the court at all times, the positioning must be 1 male in each third of the court - 1 in Defence Circle, 1 in Mid Court, 1 in Shooting Circle. This means you can have one male in either of these positions as a shooter, GS/GK (1), midcourt, WD/C/WA (2) and defence GD/GK (3).
    • Secondary School teams can enter into any grade but, players must be 15 years and older.
    • All teams will play under World Netball Rules
    • All Hamilton City Netball Centre policies and regulations will be adhered to. These are available on the website (https://netballhamilton.org.nz/constitution-and-policies)
    • Rolling subs permitted
    • No injury time

Umpires: 

ALWAYS ASK FOR THE UMPIRES QUALIFICATIONS AND IF THEY ARE CAPABLE OF UMPIING A MIXED ADULTS TEAM

Each team must provide a qualified Umpire (minimum Centre Theory) who will umpire their own team's games. 

                                          NO ITU (Intro to Umpiring) Umpires under the age of 15 years old.

Open Mixed Competitive ONLY - Umpires name and qualifications must be entered into the team list on registration.

If using the Facebook page - ALWAYS ask whether the umpire has umpired men and mixed grade and have their qualifications.

Games Format

Format of Games: 

Teams will play two x 20-minute games each night.  Games will be back-to-back. Each game will have 10-minute halves with 2-minute break and 8 minutes between games.

Rules: 

  • All teams will play under World Netball Rules
  • All Hamilton City Netball Centre policies and procedures will be adhered to. These are available on the website (www.netballhamilton.org.nz)
  • Rolling subs permitted
  • No injury time 
  • If the game is called off for any reason, and both teams agree to stop the game, the score will be as is, at stoppage.  If one team agrees to continue and the other team does not, the default will be given to the team who does not want to continue playing.

Points: Due to the Double-Up Leagues being Social Grades, scorecards will be issued, however, scores and points will not be published.

Umpires: 

Each team is asked to provide an umpire who will manage their team’s games.  No umpire, No play

Gear: 

A uniform is NOT required but bibs of the same colour must be worn by all team members. Teams are to supply their own bibs.

Teams are to provide a match ball.

To Register:

  • If you are a Club or School your Club Manager can register your team through Friendly Manager
  • If you are a Social team please contact admin@netballhamilton.org.nz  

Invoicing:

Once registrations close, teams will be approved and invoices sent to Team/Club Managers via email. 

The structure of grades could change, depending on how many teams register e.g., Teams could play one x 40-minute game each night.  Each game will have 4 x 10-minute quarters (10mins, 2min quarter time break, 10mins, 3 min half time break, 10mins, 2min quarter time break, 10mins).

Teams withdrawing after the draw is published will not receive a refund.

Note: Leagues/Grades could be combined, or cancelled due to lack of team registrations.
