Get ready for umpiring in the 2023 season! 

Join us for some or all of the below sessions. 

Sessions are suitable for all umpires of all levels of knowledge and skill.  Where appropriate the sessions will be split into smaller groups of umpires of similar experience and awards.

Register for these sessions through the link on this page (preferred) or turn up on the night.

No cost to any umpires who will be umpiring at HCNC in 2023 - $15 per session for umpires from other Centres.

Get Ready for the Season
Tuesday 7th March - 6.30pm-8.30pm

NetballSmart have developed a warm up specifically for umpires called UmpireSmart

In addition, learn how to prepare for the season, week and the day. Interactive and fun module unique to umpiring.

NetballSmart is an evidence-based framework made up of 6 principles. It helps improve your performance in sport by preventing injuries.

The NetballSmart Dynamic warm up is netball specific preparation for each game and training. It will prepare the player for the movement demands of the game, improve the movement skill of the player, warm them up and help reduce injury risk.

Fitness Testing Tips
Tuesday 14th March - 6.30-8.30pm

Do you need to do a fitness test this season for an award or to be selected for a tournament? Or are you just curious what your fitness level is and how you can improve it?

Come and learn how to do a fitness test and how to improve your results in a fitness test.

Lead by Jamie Ogilvy (NNZ accredited fitness tester)

Handling Pressure and Creating Resilience
Tuesday 21st March - 6.30-8.30pm

Being an umpire can put you into pressure situations.  Come and learn some tips and tricks for handling this pressure and building your resilience. 

Understanding Game Management will be covered.

2023 Season Update
Tuesday 28th March - 6.30pm-8.30pm

Welcome to the 2023 Season!  There has been lots happening in the off-season which we would like to update you on. 

Session will include:

  • Introducing the 2023 Umpire Leadership Team (ULT)
  • Who is doing what role in 2023 for umpires in our Centre and at the Zone?
  • The Umpire Pathway for this season and how to be involved
  • What is a Duty Umpire and how can they help you?
  • 2023 Competition Structure changes including changes to substitutions
  • New HCNC uniform policy
Premier Indoor Explained
Tuesday 4th April - 6.30pm-8.30pm

In 2023 we will have 16 teams competing indoor in our Premier Indoor Competition.  Which means more umpires will be involved.

Come to this session if you are interested in umpiring or you have previously umpired in this competition.  Protocols for umpires will be explained as well as what the bench officials do and what they require of umpires.
