Outdoor Walking Netball Rules
Hamilton City Netball Centre’s Walking Netball is an adapted game.
Walking Netball will improve your health outcomes, assist with injury rehabilitation, and help you to stay active. A low-impact sport that is fun and open to all ages and genders.
Day: Thursday
Time: From 5 pm
Length: 6 weeks
Starting on: Thursday 18th July 2024
Finishing on: Thursday 22nd August 2024
Cost: $2 per person
Format of Games:
Teams will play one x 32-minute game each night.
4 x 8 min quarters (1 min break between first-second and third-fourth quarters), 3 min half time.
Teams to change ends after each quarter.
Quarter times can be flexible, depending on ability and skill.
Note: Competitions/Grades could be combined or cancelled due to lack of team registrations.
Rules for Walking Netball:
- Games are 4 x 8 minutes quarters
- No running or jumping
- One foot must be on the ground at all times
- Players can take one step
- Players can hold the ball for up to 4 seconds
- Maximum of three males on courts at any one time - one in the defence circle area, one in the mid-court area and one in the shooting circle area.

Umpires:
Each team is asked to provide an umpire who will manage their team’s games.
Gear:
A uniform is NOT required but bibs of the same colour must be worn by all team members.
Teams are to supply their own bibs.
Teams are to provide a match ball.

- If you are a Club or School your Club Manager can register your team through Friendly Manager
- If you are a Social team please contact admin@netballhamilton.org.nz
Individual Registrations:
If you want to play and don’t have a team, email us and we will attempt to create a team/s
Please Note: Individuals will pay $2 per game.
Invoicing:
Once registrations close, teams will be approved and invoices sent to Team/Club Managers via email.
