Hamilton City Netball Centre wants to help support and grow you as an umpire!
We value all levels of umpire from our 'Weekend Warriors' who turn up every Saturday to umpire their local teams game, to those umpires who want to strive to umpire Interntational games. Our umpire coach team wants to work with you at your level with your own aspirations.
The Netball New Zealand umpire pathway starts off with Introduction to Umpiring and goes through to New Zealand qualified umpires.
We welcome all umpires to our Centre - with or without experience.
If you are already a current umpire, you will also be able to move your current qualifications over to our Centre.

Introduction to Umpiring is the first step to umpiring at the Centre. This award helps new umpires understand the basics.
- Attend an ITU course [either 1 full day (5 hours) or 2 x 2 hour days]
- Complete the Online Learning to Umpire Module
- Complete the ITU Checklist
Centre Award has 3 parts to the Award
- Complete the Online Learning to Umpire Module
- Coaching by Umpire Coaches
- Practical assessment on a 40-minute game
Zone Award is made up of two components -
Zone Theory
- Pass an online exam - faciliated 2 x per year by Netball NZ
Zone Award
- Coaching by Umpire Coaches
- Screened by assessors
- Practical on a 40-minute game
NZ C Award is made up of two components -
NZ Theory
- Pass an online exam - faciliated 2 x per year by Netball NZ
NZ C Award
- Coaching by Umpire Coaches
- Screening by assessors
- Attaining required fitness levels
- Practical assessment on a NZUDG approved game
