Netball is a multi-faceted sport which requires the continual development of its match officials. Umpire Coaching is a form of development in which an accredited umpire coach supports an umpire at any level, to achieve specific personal goals, in an umpire centred learning environment.
What do Umpire Coaches do?
Umpire Coaches at Hamilton City Netball Centre (HCNC) are at the core of supporting and guiding our umpires. From running workshops to mentoring Pathway Umpires, our Umpire Coaches are on their feet, out and about supporting our umpiring crew. We have a Development approach and this is the culture of our team, here at HCNC.
Pathway for Umpire Coaches and Assessors
Development for an Umpire Coach is just as important as it is for Umpires. In order to become an accredited umpire coach, you will be required to attend workshops and courses delivered by Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty. These workshops are designed to equip Umpire Coaches with tools and knowledge to work effectively alongside umpires to develop and achieve high standards of umpiring.
The accredited pathway:
- Centre Coach – ITU, Centre Theory holders
- Centre Coach/Assessor – As above and can assess Centre Theory holders for their Centre Award
- Zone Coach – Zone Theory holders
- Zone Coach/Assessor – As above and can assess Zone Theory holders for the Zone Award
- NZ Coach – NZ Theory & NZ Award holders
- NZ Coach/Assessor – As above and can assess NZ Theory holders for the NZC Award & Re-endorsements.
